June 11, 2011 – Cowboys, candidates and BBQ’d food may have been the fixins for the Broward Republican Executive Committee BBQ, but the main course was served up by Congressman Allen West. In his speech to about 500 Broward County Republicans, he left no doubt about the goal that Florida Republicans and the Republicans nationwide should be working for in the 2012 Presidential Election.
“…We are going to send Barak Obama packing back to Chicago, Illinois!” West’s declaration drew massive cheers, applause, and a standing ovation from the attendees, and rightfully so. The freshman congressman has drawn a line in the sand, and is calling on all Republicans to saddle up and take back victory in the next Presidential election.
Here’s the Video:
“No one is going to win a presidential election unless they win Florida…” West stated, after outlining the upcoming redistricting and the two additional congressional districts Florida will be gaining, giving it a total of 29 votes in the electoral college.
West has consistently stood strong on the principles that the majority of Americans are demanding from their government, and has done so unapologetically. He is leading the pack of ‘Teaparty Republicans’ and has even been encouraged to pursue the Presidency by many of his supporters nationwide. West, showing focus and insight, has waved aside those suggestions, choosing instead to focus on the job at hand.
Representative West also demonstrated why he is so well-respected by his constituents, by making time for each and every person who wanted to talk to him. Kate Wesner, the Congressman’s Deputy District Director, worked to guide people to West, and encouraged patience from those waiting to talk to him. Not surprisingly, the line to speak with West was long, but was filled with many “I just want to thank you for all you are doing” comments, and other accolades.
The freshman Representative has made a significant impression, and his appearance at the beautiful Bergeron Ranch in the Western portion of Broward County was the highlight of many of the attendees visit. One attendee stated “I wish we had 20 more like Congressman West, can you imagine the things that could get done in Washington, DC?”
The Broward Grand Old Party BBQ featured an impressive array of other elected officials and candidates, many of whom had the chance to speak to the attendees. Interviews with some of the other speakers will be featured on redbrowardgop.com as well as being covered here on the Political Watchman. Most of the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate were there including Former FL Senator Adam Hasner, Fl Senate President Mike Haridopolos, Former U.S. Senator George LeMieux, and Colonel Mike McCallister. Also in attendance and speaking were Florida’s CFO Jeff Atwater, and FL Representatives George Moraitis and Matt Hudson.
RNC Co-Chair Sharon Day stood and spoke about the need for attendees to “go out and get 10 more people to stand and work with you… It’s gotta start today”. That sentiment was echoed by other speakers stressing the need for the Republican Party to take back Florida and the nation.
If the Republican Party, can produce or recruit more candidates like Congressman Allen West, there can be no doubt that the will be a force to be reckoned with in the 2012 election cycle. Based on his statements at this event, Representative Allen West will be leading the charge on Election Day.
